About the Book

Set in the near future, Pillars of Light follows a President facing an impossible choice, a daughter forced to see her father clearly for the first time, and a voice-only AI named Eve whose warning may be the only thing standing between humanity and its own worst instincts. Told across multiple points of view — a President, a colonel, a scientist, a daughter — the novel asks what we actually do when the stakes are real and there's nowhere left to hide from each other.

About the Authors

Robert (Robb) Sals began writing this, his first full-length novel, at age 81 — not as a bucket-list ambition, but because a story found him he couldn't leave alone. Pillars of Light grew out of a lifelong interest in the world's great spiritual traditions, and a more recent fascination with AI's power to help — or harm — humanity. The novel is a testament to his deeply optimistic vision for our future. When he's not writing, Robb can be found playing tennis and pickleball, in quiet spiritual reflection, or enjoying the people he loves.

Katrina M. Vaillancourt has spent more than 20 years exploring one of the hardest questions in human life: what does it actually take for people to stay compassionately connected under pressure? A Compassionate Communication Certified Trainer, mediator, and relationship coach, she's worked with thousands of couples and families across more than a dozen countries, guiding them toward what she calls soul coherence. She's co-founder of Love Coaching Academy and creator of the Love Smart™ Heart-Centered Communication Cards. Katrina lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Stephen.
